Athens Water Festival in a Box

Athens Water Festival in a BoxIn 2020, the Athens Water Festival looked a little different. Participants received mailed boxes filled with hands-on activities and goodies. Download the activities included in the box below!

Waste Reduction Sorting - ACC Recycling Division
This is a go-to game at many of our community events, but this version has been adapted for you to do at home with your family! When you open the folded page, cut off the right side and cut out each of the boxes on the right (either with or without the description words below each box). Then glue or tape each box in the correct category on the left hand page. There are four main facilities in Athens where you can send or bring your materials - the ACC Landfill, Recycling Facility, Composting Operation, and CHaRM.

My Athens Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt - Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful
Explore your neighborhood and spot the items in the scavenger hunt. Check them off or take a picture. Use the gloves and bag to pick up litter you see to keep your neighborhood beautiful and protect your local waterways.

Edible Compost Recipe & Make Your Own Seedling Pots - ACC Extension Master Composters and Master Gardeners
Make edible compost, yes we said edible...yum! Also, create seedling pots from newspaper! Try planting a wildflower in the pot. Most wildflowers are adapted to a certain amount of dryness so you shouldn't have to water them too much.
