Athens-Clarke County Commercial Composting Facility
Athens-Clarke County is home to one of only two publicly owned commercial composting facilities in the state of Georgia. This offers residents and businesses a way to recycle organic materials.
Food Scraps Drop-Off Program
The Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department offers free drop-off sites for food scraps and compostable products. Collected materials are composted.
Food Scraps Collection Program
Athens-Clarke County offers collection of food scraps for commercial businesses, nonprofits, and organizations in Athens-Clarke County. This service includes weekly collection of compostable materials.
Residential Collection
Athens-Clarke County does not collect food scraps for composting from individual homes. We are able to collect from entities such as HOAs or apartment complexes that organize payment and provide a centralized location for residents to bring their compost.
