Project Summary: This project is to replace the sanitary sewer main that extends from Branch St. to Dublin St. that runs along the creek between Branch St. and East Broad St. to Dublin St. The line serves homes and businesses on Branch Street, Dublin Street, Simmons St, East Broad Street Burney Street Carpenters Circle, Royal Court, Little Oak Street, and Old Winterville Road. The creek erosion impacts, topography, and terrain make this a problematic sewer line to design. There are stream crossings needed to accomplish this sewer replacement. These crossings will require approval from the Army Corps of Engineers and Georgia Environmental Protection. 

How this benefits Athens' residents: This sewer main replacement benefits Athens residents by ensuring clean streams free from sewer spills. It will facilitate access for maintenance activities to prevent sewer spills. This project will also correct erosion issues and prevent sanitary sewers from backing up into structures.
