The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government Housing and Community Development Department announces the availability of $893,937 in Community Development Block Grant Cares Act (CDBG-CV) funds for community development activities.
CDBG-CV funds will be allocated for Public Service activities and specifically targeted to the homeless services consolidated plan goal with a focus on emergency assistance projects. Eligible homeless service activities include:
Preventing homelessness through rent, mortgage, and utility assistance (current and arrears);
Increasing emergency shelter capacity through hotel/motel shelter vouchers or expansion of existing site based emergency shelter programs;
Rehousing households through payment of security deposits, rent, and/or utilities;
Providing financial assistance including childcare costs and substance use recovery program fees for individuals/families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness
A mandatory Notice of Intent (NOI) to Apply must be submitted to HCD by 4:30 PM on Friday, July 22nd, 2022 in order to apply for CDBG-CV funding. NOI Forms can be submitted to HCD at Damario.Squire@accgov.com.
The application instructions and application attachments are below. HCD staff are available to meet upon request to discuss how nonprofit organizations may access these federal funds to administer programs that provide the aforementioned homeless services for Athens-Clarke County residents.
