The Lyndon House Arts Center is pleased to announce the exhibition Maquettes by Abraham Tesser opening on October 10, 2023 and on view in our Lobby Case through January 3, 2024. The opening artist reception is Tuesday, October 10 from 6 – 8 pm.
Abraham Tesser is an Athens - based artist and furniture maker who creates magic with wood. He has exhibited large-scale pieces at the Lyndon House Arts Center over the years; however, this exhibition looks at his tiny works, the maquettes, or a scale models in wood used as drafts or “drawings” for bigger pieces.
“Designing and building furniture is very personal. I struggle with every detail of a design. Then, at the workbench, I find it hard to beat the feeling produced by guiding the transformation of a piece of rough lumber into an elegant, smooth part. With luck, the piece will be one that captures the eye and invites the hand to touch.” – Abraham Tesser
