This division handles municipal ordinance violations such as housing, solid waste, junk vehicles, and zoning issues on private property. We are comprised of 9 civilian code enforcement officers, an administrator, an administrative assistant and a records clerk.
Mission:
Provide the citizens of this community with quality inspections of potential code and ordinance violations in a responsive, courteous way
Maximize the number of properties and structures that are in compliance with adopted standards
Improve the safety and appearance of properties and buildings within Athens-Clarke County by enforcing local ordinances, property maintenance codes, and construction codes
Officers not only respond to reported violations, but they will initiate cases as well
