The Athens-Clarke County Mayor and Commission have tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 11.97 percent. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at 120 Dougherty St., Governmental Building Auditorium on May 12, 2022 at 5:30 p.m.
Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are City Hall (Commission Chamber), 301 College Avenue on May 17, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. and at City Hall (Commission Chamber), 301 College Avenue on June 7, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 13.200 mills, an increase of 1.411 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 11.789 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $300,000 is approximately $155.21 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $375,000 is approximately $211.65.
