There are many benefits to becoming a Certified Blue restaurant or bar. You receive public recognition for your efforts in water stewardship and are given several items of your choice at no cost. Below are examples of outreach, educational, and promotional opportunities available to Certified Blue restaurants and bars.

Host a Conservation Event The Water Conservation Office will work with you to plan and help with a public event that suits your business. We will help promote your event! Some ideas are: Water Conservation Workshop open to public, Water Conservation Table during a busy lunch hour, Showerhead giveaway, or Family or Childrens’ activity.

Use Our Cool Coasters Your customers will see that you care about Athens’ water while they learn fun facts about water. These are free to Certified Blue businesses while supplies last. Fun facts include: Bacon cures hangovers, but grease down the drain is a real headache. There are more than 425 miles of streams in Athens-Clarke County. It takes 20 gallons of water to make 1 pint of beer. Customer who "Support Blue" can get a free t-shirt from the Water Conservation Office.

Use Conservation Crayons and Coloring Books We currently have two coloring and activities options available at no cost. Two sided coloring sheet featuring Lily Anne Phibian, Athens’ Water Conservation Ambassador. We can provide you with paper copies or an electronic version that you would print yourself. A complete Water Conservation coloring book. "Conserve: WATER U waiting for?" crayons are included.

Install Certified Blue Bathroom Signs You have to put similar signs up in your bathrooms anyway. They might as well be cool, high quality signs that show your customers you care about Athens’ water. High quality plastic signs made locally Blue design is shown at right Use with optional window clings shown below

Use These Cool Mirror Clings These will look great combined with the signs above! Cling to mirrors in bathrooms to remind customers to think at this sink. These will also be used at hand-washing stations as part of the required water assessment.
