Athens-Clarke County Economic Development Department staff have been working closely with a number of entrepreneurs who have identified the need to build awareness of local businesses and attract a talented workforce to Athens‐Clarke County. After many meetings, Athensmade was founded in 2015 as a non‐profit. The organization aims for Athens-Clarke County to become nationally known as a community where entrepreneurs, young professionals and creative professionals thrive.
Athensmade’s purpose is to help drive local economic growth and diversity by developing the brand of the community through programs that build and support local businesses, assist entrepreneurs, and foster connections between local educators and our business community. They also aim to engage the entire community in the development of a succinct and well‐known spirit of pride around doing business in Athens.
