Athens Mural Alley Project Call for Artists

Athens Mural Alley Project 1 retro-01

The Athens Area Arts Council, Athens Downtown Development Authority,

Athens Cultural Affairs Commission, and Lyndon House Art Center

are joining forces for an exciting downtown

Athens Mural Alley project.

Artists are required to complete the entire application form, include 1-2 images of proposed mural design and 2-3 images of current or representational works. Up to 6 artists will be selected. Each will receive a stipend of $750, $350 will be awarded after selection and $400 awarded upon completion of the project.

The theme is 2021, Here and Now. Murals will be painted on 5' x 5' primed panels that will be provided.  Inspiration could be drawn from recovery, advocacy, activism, optimism and hope, a testament to the resiliency of our community. We are still standing, stronger and together. This could be redefining identity and potentially building equanimity in the years to come. Artists must live in the Athens area, including the immediate 10 surrounding counties. BIPOC and LGBTQ+ artists are encouraged to apply.

Submissions due: February 15, 2021
