Animal Control encourages individuals and groups to volunteer at the shelter. After orientation, volunteers may walk dogs, play in the interaction pens, and even bathe dogs to make them more adoptable.
Athens-Clarke County Animal Services is participating in a National Program called “Wait until 8”. Wait until 8 simply means that we should wait until kittens are 8 weeks of age to bring them into a shelter environment. This program helps empower the residents of Athens-Clarke County to care for young orphaned kittens and litters of kittens with their moms at home until they are 8 weeks of age.
