Whiteman was stuck by a 2009 Nissan Altima traveling east in the left lane on College Station Road. Whiteman was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital.
Due to the serious nature of these incidents, the ACCPD reminds pedestrians to use caution when crossing roadways:
- Use crosswalks when crossing a roadway
- Walk on sidewalks whenever they are available
- If there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic and as far from traffic as possible
- When crossing, never assume a driver sees you; make eye contact with drivers as
they approach a crosswalk or intersection.
