UPDATE – January 14, 2020

ACCPD would like to speak with a young couple who detectives believe were in the area (Finley Street and Dearing Street) near the time of the incident who may have seen the suspect. This continues to be an active and ongoing investigation. ACCPD asks anyone who believes they have information about the incident or the suspect to contact Det. Rape Reported near Dearing Street and Church Street

ACCPD is investigating a Rape which occurred earlier this morning in the area of Dearing Street and Church Street. According to ACCPD’s initial investigation, a 22-year old female reported that she was raped by a black male with an athletic build. The suspect is about 5’ 10” with a dark complexion and short hair. The suspect was wearing dark pants and a grey hoody. The incident occurred at approximately 3:00am. The victim did not know the suspect.

ACCPD encourages individuals to consider these safety tips:

* Seek a safe ride home.

* If walking home, stay with a group and stay in well-lit areas.

* Always be aware of your surroundings and call 9-1-1 if you see someone or something suspicious.
