Through peer nominations within the community, the GreenLife Awards recognize sustainability leaders in Athens-Clarke County schools, businesses, community organizations, & government. These awards celebrate individuals, businesses, and organizations that have gone above and beyond in the ways of environmental stewardship, innovative sustainable design, and other community improvements. 

The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government is asking for nominations in a variety of environmental areas. Please help honor local individuals, schools, and businesses by nominating them for a GreenLife Award!

2021 Awards Nominations Due 3/1/2021

• Individual Recycling and Waste Reduction Nomination Form

• Business / Industry Recycling and Waste Reduction Nomination Form

• Clarke County Schools Recycling and Waste Reduction Nomination Form

• KACCB Keepin’ It Clean Citizen of the Year Nomination Form

• Stormwater Steward Award Nomination Form

• Leadership in Water Conservation Award Nomination Form

Any individual, business, organization, school or group in Athens-Clarke County is eligible. The winner will be recognized virtually at the GreenLife Awards tentatively scheduled for Earth Day April 22, 2021, co-hosted by Terrapin Beer Company.
 

About the Virtual Event

Terrapin’s “Tapping into Community” is a Facebook Live series which provides a platform for local members in our community to tell their stories. This virtual happy hour is on Terrapin’s Facebook page. There will also be an outdoors, socially distanced happy hour to celebrate and provide for the pick up of the physical awards.

 

GreenLife Art, Photography and Poetry Contest
2021 Theme: “Renew, Reinvent, Rejoice” 

2021 offers us the opportunity to Renew, Reinvent, and Rejoice. Renew our commitment to the environment; Reinvent ways to live a greener life; Rejoice in our environmental successes. We encourage you to create artwork (painting, drawing, and sculpture), short video (30 seconds – 1 minute), take a photograph or write a poem to demonstrate how you will live a green life in 2021. 

Athens-Clarke County K-12 students are encouraged to submit their work. Selections will be made based on grade level and medium category and will receive a prize.

All entries are due to the ACC Recycling Division, Green School Program, at 725 Hancock Industrial Way, Athens, GA 30605 by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021. Winners will be notified in mid-March and will be invited to a virtual Awards Ceremony on April 15, 2021. In addition to being recognized at the ceremony, all winning entries will be displayed in the North Gallery of the Lyndon House Arts Center during the month of April.
