Newsletter Changing Frequency of Distribution
This COVID-19 newsletter launched with the March 16, 2020 edition (at 12:02 AM on March 17). Since then, 167 additional editions of the newsletter have been distributed with varying daily, semi-daily, and weekly frequency with only a short break in July 2021.After this May 25, 2022, edition, this COVID-19 newsletter will change from its weekly Wednesday frequency and only be published and distributed on an as-needed basis beginning June 1.The newsletter will continue to be sent to subscribers with significant updates and news about local, state, and federal responses to COVID-19. The frequency and day of distribution will vary. The changes result in part due to UGA's discontinuation of collecting COVID-19 data after May 16, Clarke County School District summer break and the data changes that result, changes to the federal data reporting timeframes and system of measurement, and resumption of many normal operations of ACCGov.
Additionally, the weekly graphic (below) with local, state, and federal data will also change the information it shows and the day of production as of June 2022. It will continue to be distributed via social media and displayed on the website regularly.accgov.com/coronavirus will also continue to be updated regularly with information.

Transit Mask Policy Modified to Align with Updated CDC Recommendations Athens-Clarke County Transit has modified its mask policy to align with updated CDC recommendations.
As a result of a court order, the CDC’s Order requiring masks on public transportation conveyances and at transportation hubs is no longer in effect. CDC continues to recommend that people wear masks in indoor public transportation settings.
ACCGov strongly encourages passengers to continue to wear masks on all public transit and inside ACC Transit facilities, although masks are no longer required.
ACC Transit’s policy is subject to change based on local COVID-19 cases and local, state, or federal policy updates.
Additionally, in light of the recent federal court decision, the University System of Georgia no longer requires the use of masks on campus transportation.

Changes to UGA COVID-19 Data Collection On May 16, 2022, UGA discontinued weekly health and exposure updates on the COVID-19 website. A final update was published on May 18, 2022.
Older information about DawgCheck and other University of Georgia-related COVID information is available at the University Health Center website at https://uhs.uga.edu/healthtopics/covid-19-health-and-exposure-updates.
As the COVID-19 pandemic transitions and public health conditions and treatments improve, UGA will begin treating COVID-19 as they do any other infectious disease cases.
UGA will maintain a license for the DawgCheck notification system should it need to be redeployed and are monitoring local, national, and global viral conditions to make changes to policies, if necessary.
