The Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department will suspend compost, garbage, recycling, and leaf & limb collections on Monday, January 19th, 2026 in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.  

If you have residential service & commercial service with us outside of downtown, your pick-up schedule will be as follows: Monday will be collected on Tuesday. Tuesday will be collected on Wednesday. Wednesday will be collected on Thursday. Thursday will be collected on Friday. We will resume our normal pickup schedule on Monday, January 26th, 2026. Please make sure your trash and recycling roll-carts are out on the curb by 7:00 AM on your altered service pick-up day.  

If you have commercial or residential service with us and are located within the Downtown District, your service will be picked on the regular schedule.
