In accordance with Supreme Court Justice Melton’s Judicial Emergency Order of September 14, 2020, criminal and civil matters shall be scheduled in accordance with that Order and with the Athens-Clarke and Oconee Counties’ COVID-19 protocols and guidelines. Any matters previously tolled by Justice Melton’s March 14, 2020 Order shall be determined in accordance with the Order of September 10, 2020. Criminal and civil matters shall be conducted virtually as much as possible. Jury trials remain suspended. Judge Lott presides in the Superior Court of the Western Judicial Circuit, which covers Athens-Clarke County and Oconee County. The Superior Courts are Georgia’s highest level trial courts of general jurisdiction, with exclusive constitutional authority over felony criminal cases, family law cases, equity matters, and other actions.
