Accountability Courts are collaborative courts that work to address the underlying cause of criminal activity rather than just punishing behavior.

Alternative Dispute Program
The Tenth District Alternative Dispute Resolution Program provides an alternative method of resolving disputes in cases filed in the Superior, State, Probate and Magistrate courts of Athens-Clarke County. This program also coordinates the Divorcing Parents Program.

Clerk of Superior & State Courts
The Clerk of Superior & State Courts is the Clerk of Superior Court and the Clerk of State Court. The Clerk of Superior & State Courts keeps the official record of all civil and criminal actions filed in each court, Courts' minutes, notary appointments, and requested filings of DD2-14 forms from US Military Service personnel. The Clerk of Superior Court is also the official custodian for all land records.

District Attorney
The ACC District Attorney's Office is responsible for prosecuting all criminal offenses, felonies and misdemeanors, as well as certain civil actions such as drug, gambling, and bond forfeitures in the Superior Courts of the Western Judicial Circuit. These prosecutions, both civil and criminal, are generated primarily by the police agencies operating in and around this jurisdiction.

Juvenile Court
Juvenile Court has original jurisdiction over cases involving deprivation, delinquency, or unruliness concerning children under age 17, except certain offenses excluded by statute.

Law Library
The Athens-Clarke County Law Library is funded under the Western Judicial Circuit Superior Court. The Law Library’s primary purpose is for legal research, but it also has a lawyer's lounge and restroom facilities for meetings and conferences.

Magistrate Court Home
The mission of the ACC Magistrate Court is to provide assistance to the general public, police agencies, and attorneys in the prosecution of criminal and civil cases in Athens-Clarke County.

Municipal Court
The Court has jurisdiction over all County ordinance violations; over all State misdemeanor traffic violations, including DUI; and over State misdemeanor crimes of Theft by Shoplifting, Possession of Less Than an Ounce of Marijuana, and Underage Possession of Alcohol.

Probate Court
The Probate Court assists the public in taking care of the business affairs of those who have died, or in dealing with family members who are mentally ill, alcoholic, drug-dependent, or otherwise incapacitated, while protecting people who are unable to protect themselves or their property. Probate Court also conducts emergency evaluations for the mentally ill, issues marriage licenses, issues firearms conceal/carry permits, and provides a host of related services.

Probation Services
The Probation Services Office has probation and supervisory jurisdiction of all misdemeanor offenses authorized by statute, including supervision, counseling, and collection services for all moneys to be paid by a defendant according to the terms of their sentence.

Self Help Desk
The Self Help Desk offers self-represented litigants access to legal forms, research tools, and assistance during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.

State Court
State Court has concurrent jurisdiction with Superior Court in civil actions except where exclusive jurisdiction is given to the Superior Court by the Georgia Constitution. State Court handles appeals from the Magistrate's Court and has criminal jurisdiction in misdemeanor cases.

Superior Court
The Superior Court has jurisdiction in divorce, felony, land-title, equity, adoption, and certain civil suits. The Felony Drug Court, Treatment and Accountability Court, and Veterans Court are also part of the Superior Court. The Western Judicial Circuit is comprised of Athens-Clarke County and Oconee County. This court also handles appeals from the Probate Court.
