The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department celebrates July is National Park and Recreation Month.

Get out and enjoy a new facet of the Leisure Services Department  - try something new, hike a trail you haven't hiked, tour the new art exhibition at Lyndon House Arts Center, play at a new playground, or visit a different park.

Athens-Clarke County residents know their parks and recreation facilities provide places to get active, explore nature, celebrate the arts, or connect with fellow community members, but what they may not know is that their parks and recreation also contribute to improved health outcomes, higher property values and environmental sustainability.

The Leisure Services Department joins communities across the country in celebrating the  “July is National Park and Recreation Month” an annual event created by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and celebrated in July since 1985.
