Following Athens-Clarke County procedure, you are being notified as a subscriber to the Neighborhood Notification Initiative that the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing and consider the following proposals on Thursday February 6th at 6:00 PM in the Auditorium at 120 West Dougherty Street:

Proposals

• 1055 HULL RD
  Request: From General Business & Mixed Density Residential to General Business; From C-R & RM-2 to C-G
  PROPOSAL: The rezone is being requested for potential future development, but no project has been proposed at this time. 
• 445, 605, 705, & 1015 BARNETT SHOALS RD, 190-210 LAKEWOOD DR, & 162 PARK RIDGE CT 
  Request: From Traditional Neighborhood & Mixed Density Residential to Traditional Neighborhood; From C-N (PD), RS-8, & RM-1 to C-N (PD)
  PROPOSAL: 540-745 Single- and Multi-Family Residences and at least 20,000 sq. ft. of commercial space
• 110 WEST HANCOCK AVE
  Request: Special Use in C-D (DS) 
  PROPOSAL: Demolishing the vacant office to build a parking lot
• 728 COBB ST
  Request: Special Use in RS-8
  PROPOSAL: Convert existing office from legal non-conforming to legal conforming status
• 995 GAINES SCHOOL RD
  Request: From C-O (PD) to C-O (SUP)
  PROPOSAL: Demolish existing office to build an urgent care facility

  PROPOSAL: 10,000 sq. ft. grocery store, 2,000 sq. ft. restaurant, and 1,200 sq. ft. of commercial retail
• TEXT AMENDMENT
  Amend Sec. 9-15-28 of the Code of Ordinances regarding short-term rentals

Public Comment

In Person Comments

Residents are invited to provide public comment in person at Planning Commission meetings. Applicants and representatives of specified interest groups are provided ten minutes to address the Commission. All other speakers are provided three minutes.

Written or Email Comments

Written or emailed public comments received by the Planning Department no later than noon Wednesday, February 5th will be forwarded to the Planning Commission for their consideration prior to the hearing. 

After this date, written comments may be read into the record at the hearing, subject to the previously noted time limits for addressing the Commission. Comments will also be forwarded to the Mayor & Commission. 

Meeting Purpose

The purpose of the Planning Commission hearing is to be a forum for public comments in favor or in opposition to the proposal.

After the Planning Commission hearing, the Mayor & Commission are tentatively scheduled to consider the request at their Agenda Setting meeting on February 18th with a final vote tentatively scheduled for March 4th.
