Following Athens-Clarke County procedure, you are being notified as a subscriber to the Neighborhood Notification Initiative that the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing and consider the following proposals on Thursday September 4th at 6:00 PM in the Auditorium at 120 West Dougherty Street:

• 0 OLD ELBERTON ROAD - Type I Rezone
  Request: Future Land Use Change From Rural to Employment Center
  Request: Rezone from Agricultural-Residential to Employment-Industrial
  PROPOSAL: Approximately 2 Million Sq. Ft. of Industrial space
• 2415 JEFFERSON ROAD - Type II Master Planned Development
  Request: Zoning change from Commercial-General to Commercial-General, Planned Development
  PROPOSAL:  234 multi-family units, 8 townhouse-style multi-family units, 6,000 sq. ft. of retail, 37,000 sq. ft. of plaza space, partial demolition of existing retail
• 570 PRINCE AVENUE - Type I Preliminary Planned Development (Comments Only)
  Request: Future Land Use Change from Government to Main Street Business
  Request: Rezone from Government to Commercial-Neighborhood, Planned Development
  PROPOSAL: Conversion and expansion of existing Presidential Mansion into a 116-room hotel with bar/restaurant, event space, spa, and underground parking deck. 
• 600 OGLETHORPE AVENUE - Type II Special Use Permit
  Request: Special Use in Commercial-Office zone
  PROPOSAL: Convert existing office into a veterinary clinic
• 780 MACON HIGHWAY - Type II Rezone
  Request: Rezone from Single-Family Residential-5 to Mixed-Density Residential-1
  PROPOSAL: 8 townhouse units
• 0 MCCLUNG ROAD - Type I Rezone (Comments Only)
  Request: Future Land Use Change From Mixed Density Residential to General Business
  Request: Rezone from Mixed-Density Residential-2 to Commercial-General
  PROPOSAL: Commercial Street/Driveway

Public Comment

In Person Comments

Residents are invited to provide public comment in person at Planning Commission meetings. Applicants and representatives of specified interest groups are provided ten minutes to address the Commission. All other speakers are provided three minutes.

Written or Email Comments

Written or emailed public comments received by the Planning Department no later than noon Wednesday, September 3rd will be forwarded to the Planning Commission for their consideration prior to the hearing. 

After this date, written comments may be read into the record at the hearing, subject to the previously noted time limits for addressing the Commission. Comments will also be forwarded to the Mayor & Commission. 

Meeting Purpose

The purpose of the Planning Commission hearing is to be a forum for public comments in favor or in opposition to the proposal.

After the Planning Commission hearing, the Mayor & Commission are tentatively scheduled to consider the request at their Agenda Setting meeting on September 16th with a final vote tentatively scheduled for October 7th.
