   The Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department offers guided tours of our Recycling Center, Compost Facility, Landfill, and CHaRM (Center for Hard to Recycle Materials) on a regular basis. We welcome school groups, community organizations, businesses, and other interested groups. We do our best to accommodate all requests.

   Please note:

   • Tours are recommended for ages 5 and up.

   • The Recycling Center and CHaRM have a minimum age requirement of 8 years old to enter the facility.

   • A minimum of 10 participants is required to schedule a tour.

   To request a tour, please complete the tour request form below. Once submitted, our staff will contact you via email to confirm the date and time of your visit.

   All tour participants must wear closed-toe shoes. We will provide hard hats, safety vests, and eye protection as needed. Please be aware that the Recycling Center tour includes stairs and is not fully wheelchair accessible. However, we encourage you to reach out with any accessibility concerns, and we will do our best to accommodate all participants.
