Project 1: Areawide Storm Drain Improvements
We repaired and upgraded storm drainage systems, including culvert improvements, open channel improvements, water detention, and other related facilities. This project is complete.

Project 2: Tallassee/Oglethorpe/Mitchell Bridge
This project widened, realigned, and reconstructed Tallassee Road / Oglethorpe Avenue from two lanes to three; realigned the sharp curve on Oglethorpe Avenue; and relocated the Mitchell Bridge Road intersection. This project was taken over by the State of Georgia Department of Transportation. It is now complete.

Project 3: Nowhere Road Bridges
This project replaced substandard bridges at East Sandy Creek and Noketchee Creek and realigned a dangerous curve on Nowhere Road. The project is complete.

Project 4: Local Road Resurfacing
This project increased the number of miles of roads that are resurfaced annually through the State of Georgia Department of Transportation LARP Program. The project objective was to increase the number of miles of roads resurfaced annually from 15 to 25 miles per year. This project is now complete.

Project 5: Downtown Infrastructure
This project resurfaced streets with low curbs, repaired broken sidewalks, replaced aging and inadequate storm sewers, and corrected drainage problems. Remaining funds are allocated for a City Hall streetscape project pending Mayor and Commission approval.

Project 7: ENSAT Center
Funding for the Environment, Natural Science, and Appropriate Technology (ENSAT) Center built an outdoor-oriented, multipurpose facility with classrooms, live animal enclosures, and interactive exhibits related to natural science and the environment at Sandy Creek Nature Center. The project is complete.

Project 8: Bridge Rehabilitation
This project upgraded the overall safety of most bridges in Athens-Clarke County to improve them before major failures occurred. This project consisted of the bridge repair rehabilitation work identified by the State of Georgia Department of Transportation Bridge Survey conducted in 1993. The project is complete.

Project 9: Epps Bridge Parkway
Local share of right of way commitments allowed for construction of a four-lane divided entrance, with sidewalks and bike paths, into Athens-Clarke County from SR316. This project was a partnership with the State of Georgia Department of Transportation. The project is located on Epps Bridge Road from the Oconee County line to Atlanta Highway.

Project 10: Jail Infirmary
Funding for this project built an infirmary in accordance with a federal court order to provide medical care for the inmates of the Athens-Clarke County Jail. The Jail Infirmary Project consisted of the construction of a one-story, 6,421-square-foot annex and a 325-square-foot renovation to the existing jail.

Project 14: Building & Partial Radio System
The project constructed additional space for police operations and purchased an 800 MHz radio system to provide effective communication between police, fire, EMS, corrections, public works, and other emergency services. This project is complete.

Project 15: Fire Training Center
This project constructed a comprehensive fire training center to serve professional firefighters in Athens-Clarke County and the surrounding areas. The training center includes a two-story, four-room, 1,200-square-foot burn building; a 20-foot-by-20-foot four-story drill tower with standpipe connections on each level and a sprinkler system on the first floor; a 10-foot-by-10-foot flammable liquid pit; a 2,500 gallon drafting pit; and a 1,500 square foot training building designed for future growth.
The project is located on Paradise Boulevard, on 13 acres adjacent to the Clarke County Board of Education Bus Center. This project is complete.
