Christmas Day Holiday Schedule 2025
2025 Christmas Day Holiday Schedule
The Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department will suspend compost, garbage and recycling collections on Wednesday December 24th and Thursday December 25th, 2025, in recognition of the Christmas Day Holiday. There will be no leaf and limb collections during the week of Christmas.
If you have residential service & commercial service with us outside of the downtown district your pick-up schedule will be as follows: Monday and Tuesday will be collected on Monday. Wednesday will be collected on Tuesday. Thursday and Friday will be collected on Friday. Please make sure your trash and recycling roll-carts are out by the curb by 7:00 AM on your pick-up day. We will resume our normal pickup schedule Monday January 5th, 2026.
If you have commercial or residential service with us and are located within the Downtown District pick-up will be on regular schedule.

The “*” means that your trash and recycling will be collected on a different day from your regularly scheduled pickup day.

Annually, the Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department may alter collection service for the following holidays:
New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Earth Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Indigenous People's Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, & Christmas.
