2025 Labor Day Holiday Schedule
The Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department will suspend compost, garbage, recycling and leaf & limb collections on Monday, September 1st, 2025, in recognition of Labor Day holiday.
If you have residential service & commercial service with us outside of the downtown district your pick-up schedule will be as follows: Monday will be collected on Tuesday. Tuesday will be collected on Wednesday. Wednesday will be collected on Thursday. Thursday and Friday will be collected on Friday. Please make sure your trash and recycling roll-carts are place on the curb by 7:00 Am on your pick-up day. We will resume our normal pickup schedule on Monday, September 8th, 2025.
If you have commercial or residential service with us and are located within the Downtown District your service will be picked on the regular schedule.

Annually, the Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department may alter collection service for the following holidays - New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Earth Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Indigenous People's Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
