Employment & Internships
Part-time jobs, along with paid and unpaid internships, are available with a variety of ACCGov departments. Visit www.accgov.com/jobs or www.accgov.com/internships to view a current list of openings and sort by job type, department, location, or salary. Leisure Services also offers summer employment in athletics, aquatics, natural resources, and recreation. Positions are typically posted in early spring.
Litter
Don't do it! Clean up after yourself, and place trash in the proper receptacles.
Noise
Keep noise to a minimum, and be familiar with local noise ordinance requirements.
Parking
- Park only in designated parking spots or lots.
- Do not park on the grass in a front or side yard.
- Do not park along any yellow curb.
Pedestrian Safety
When crossing streets on foot:
- cross only at marked crosswalks or traffic signals
- wait for the white walking figure when crossing at a light
- watch for turning vehicles when crossing a driveway
- when crossing at a mid-block marked crossing with a flashing light signal, press the button and wait for cars to stop before crossing
- even with signals in use, make sure to look both directions to make sure vehicles (including e-scooters and bikes) are stopping before crossing.
Pet Waste
- Pick up after your pets on public or private property.
- Bring poop bags along when you go on walks.
- Visit www.accgov.com/petwaste for more information.
Public Transportation
ACCGov’s Transit Department provides fare-free transportation service through fixed-route bus service and the Lift paratransit service. Live bus tracking, schedules, and trip planning are available through the myStop app, the Transit app, and on Google Maps.
UGA Campus Transit provides comprehensive bus and paratransit services to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the greater Athens community. Learn more about their routes and services here.
Recreation
ACCGov’s Leisure Services Department operates 20+ parks and facilities in addition to 50+ miles of paved and natural surface trails. The department also offers a wide variety of programs, activities, and public events throughout the year. Get out and explore!
Smoking & Vaping
Smoking, which also includes using electronic smoking and vaping devices, is prohibited in:
- any enclosed public places and most enclosed places of employment
- any park, youth sports complex, or recreation area owned, leased, or operated by ACCGov.
If you smoke, dispose of your cigarette butts properly - they are litter. Do not put e-cigarettes in household trash or recycling, as they can start fires. Instead, take them to the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM), located at 1005 College Ave.
Trash & Recycling
- Place waste in the proper containers.
- Follow local trash pick-up schedules.
- Store your bins properly afterward.

ACCGov has volunteer opportunities with Leisure Services, Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful, Animal Services, Public Utilities, Stormwater, Sustainability, and other departments.
