Changing a Court Date
Rescheduling
You need to contact the Municipal Court Clerk’s Office at least 2 business days in advance of your court date if you wish to request a reset or rescheduled court date. The phone number to the Clerk’s Office is 706-613-3690, but email communication is preferred. Send email to municipalcourt@accgov.com with your full name, complete mailing address, and your case number if possible.
If you have an attorney representing you, your request for a reset needs to be made through your attorney.
First Appearance or Arraignment
One courtesy reset will be granted upon request. Understand that we will attempt to schedule your new court date within 30-60 days of original court date. We will need to confirm your current contact information and update any changes prior to granting the reset request. If your contact information changes again in the future, please remember to update your contact info through our website’s Court Date Reminder System.
After First Appearance or a Continued Arraignment
A reset will be granted if any of the following apply (the Clerk’s Office may request medical documentation):
- You are in quarantine for having been exposed to COVID-19;
- You are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms;
- You have tested positive for COVID-19;
- You are a member of an immune-compromised population;
- You are living in a household with someone who is immune-compromised;
- You are over 65;
- You have small children and do not have child care.
Once again in most circumstances we will attempt to schedule your new court date within 30-60 days of your assigned court date. We will need to confirm your current contact information and update any changes prior to granting the reset request. If your contact information changes again in the future please remember to update your contact info through our website.
If a reset of 30-60 days does not address the specific concerns of appearing in person at the courthouse, you can contact the clerk’s office to schedule a video court appearance.
If you fail to appear for the reset court date, or any other court date that may be scheduled, you will be subject to arrest and assessment of fees and court costs.
We are happy to give written excuses to take to work or school for any court appearance.
