Hey! It’s a park!

The Pop Up Park is a new initiative of the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department. Introduced in June 2021, this special recreation vehicle takes the fun on the road - at no charge! It is packed with activities and games that are unloaded to quickly set up a park. Let the fun begin!

Request the Pop up Park

Interested in having the Pop Up Park at your next community event? Please complete the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Pop Up Park Request Form. The form must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event.

After staff receives and reviews the completed Pop up Park Request Form, you will be contacted regarding availability.   Submission of the Request Form is not a reservation.

Please note:  

• The Pop up Park vehicle and activities require at least 10 contiguous parking spaces or space that is at least 90 feet long by 30 wide.  
• The Pop up Park travels within Athens-Clarke County, only, and is available to visit events that are free and open to the community.  It is not available for private events, including birthday parties. 
• The Pop up Park staff, based on weather conditions, may make the decision to cancel the appearance. The event contact person on the request form will be contacted.
• The Pop up Park is not available on Saturdays when there is a University of Georgia home football game.

What about the art?

One of the first questions asked at any Pop up Park event is "what about the art?"

In 2020, the Leisure Services Department put out a call to artists to create custom art for the Pop up Park bus. Five area artists submitted art in a variety of styles and designs. The selection committee ultimately chose Eli Saragoussi's submission. In June 2021, the Pop up Park bus was on the road at its first event taking a park to the people and highlighting Eli's creativity.
