EXHIBITIONS

ON VIEW:

Photo of Tim Root's exhibition in the Lobby Case

fast tracks, ski masks, plaid slacks: Tim Root

Now through February 8, 2024

Lobby Case

Tim Root's playful wooden constructions draw from a comic book aesthetic, featuring humorous yet grotesque characters that are brought to life in bold colors and graphic black outlines. Embracing a DIY ethos, these simple works are made from scrap wood and bits of wire. Intentionally crude, they belie their own sophistication of wit and richness of content. Root creates a world that is equal parts fun house and children's toy box, injecting an adult's perspective into the playground of imagination.

ON VIEW:

Blue vintage radio

John Stephenson's Vintage Radio Collection

Now through January 11, 2025

Community Collections Case

Vintage radios from the collection of John Stephenson will be on view in the Community Collections case through the holidays.

Jamele Wright, Sr. stands between fabrics art works

We Are All Kinda Floating: Jamele Wright

Now through December 28, 2024

R. Lukasiewicz Gallery

Atlanta-based artist Jamele Wright Sr. creates monumental textiles that center the traditions of the Black American vernacular experience and merge sculpture, painting, fiber and techniques from applied graffiti and quilting.

Wright’s immersive installation of hanging hand-dyed fabrics creates a dynamic dialogue between the architecture of the space and the viewer as they move through the installation, activating it. Wright’s exhibition beckons the visitor to contemplate lines through history - family, tradition, and culture - that connect us all.

ON VIEW:

Detail of Patti Roberts-Pizzuto's artwork

Distillations: Patti Roberts-Pizzuto and Johntimothy Pizzuto

January 16, 2025 - March 15, 2025

North Gallery

Compatriots in art as much as anything else, the two artists share a restrained palette and lightness of touch. Both artists contrast elegant, atmospheric fields of marks alongside crisp manufactured edges, using the formal implications of depth and flatness to explore ideas of memory and temporality.

UPCOMING:

Detail of Carol John painting

Twist: Carol John

January 16, 2025 - March 15, 2025

R. Lukasiewicz Gallery

Carol John’s paintings, whether diminutive or grand in scale, are all predicated on repeating marks and shapes. Dots, lines, and squares all multiply to create vibrating forms and surfaces that resonate with playful pop color.
