So welcome, it is nice to see you again!

August 20. 2020

Thank you to all the artists who made the week of pick up of the 45th Juried Show so smooth. We appreciate it!

We put our staff and your health first in all, thus we must remain flexible as the city of Athens makes good decisions regarding our safety.  As a result of the ongoing struggle to manage our current situation, during the month of August, our galleries will be closed for installation with an expectation of reopening a spectacular series of fall shows on September 8th. Please check back for hours and guidance for your visit.

August is still a perfect time for our Open Studio members new and continuing as the studios will remain available at this moment.

In the meantime, amidst all, we are here for you and strive to inspire and sustain this creative hub we call Athens. #ArtsCenterOnLine has become a wonderful way to engage with the Arts Center and our artistic community through all kinds of programs and stories and arts funding opportunities. Building our social media platforms and creating video and online content has indeed and will continue to be fulfilling and fun.  However, it does not take the place of the full and sensory experience that is witnessing the intention of the maker and art in it's all so many forms. Thus for the future, we will keep our fingers crossed for a good recovery. Athens, be safe, be well.

July 29.2020

This week we say good by to the 45th Juried Exhibition as it is pick up week and we are able to welcome the 144 artists whose work was selected by juror Larry Ossei-Mensah.  However, if you would like to revisit the show, it exists virtually with #45JuriedShowOnLine both on the web and in our social media.

As of Monday August 3, our galleries will be closed for installation with new exhibits going on view on September 8.  As we are in an ever changing environment, please check back as hours and days and requirements for visiting may change.  For new and continuing Open Studio Members, the studios are open between 10 - 6pm Tuesday - Sunday.  As we must do a good deal of cleaning each and every day, we ask you finish up your work by 5:30 if possible to allow us to sanitize.  Thank you.

Be safe and well Athens!

June 16.2020

We will be opening our studios for self directed use by new and renewing open studio members.  The studios will be available for use Tuesday - Saturday 10 am - 6 pm.  As we have no camps or classes this summer, this is a perfect time for creating your individual works and to nurture your creative practice.  Hope to see you soon!

June 2.2020

After many weeks of being closed to the public due to the global pandemic, the Lyndon House Arts Center is opening its galleries again on June 2, 2020.

We are announcing new viewing hours for the month of June, Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. These hours allow for the staff to prepare and maintain cleaning and safety precautions daily.

All galleries will be available for viewing the 45th Juried Exhibition that has been extended to July 25. Our front glass case programs, Collections from our Community and Lobby Case, will be refreshed, as is the What’s Up Hallway with new photography and graphic design.

Please note we are practicing social distancing at our facility. Signs will be posted indicating the number of people allowed in each gallery at one time. Your wellness and the safety of the staff are our first priority thus we will be wearing facemasks in the public spaces at all times.

Our studios will remain closed for two more weeks. The Gallery Shop will remain closed until further notice. With proper research and preparation, we hope to open the Ware-Lyndon Historic House in July.

Based on the Governor’s requirements, we will not be holding any gatherings until further notice. This included guilds, meetings, rentals and classes.

April 15, 2020 Still Closed

Hello All.  I hope this finds you safe and well.  We have gathered  together, (virtually of course), a group of arts supporters to look at the impact of our current crisis on the local arts community.  We would like to hear from as many of you makers and creators in all fields as to how your economic situation has changed, what would be helpful now, as we start a long recovery period, and also, well just to check in.  Here is a LINK to a survey. I would be so appreciative if you could fill this out as it would help us put this story together.

April 8, 2020 STILL CLOSED

What a world we are all currently sharing at the moment.  Surreal, yet very real.

However, art and culture lives before, during and at the end of a crisis.  Art is a place for solace, a place to look deeply into our humanity and a space to hopefully find some beauty or even joy.  As you all know the Arts Center is closed due to the COVID-19 epidemic.  But all of us are working to bring our programs to the social media platforms in order to support this creative and engaged community.

Please visit our Facebook and Instagram to view #45JuriedShowOnLine and #ArtsCenterOnLine (also on top of the left side menu here) with upcoming segments entitled Art@Home with Toni Carlucci, ShelterInPlaceStudioVisits with Beth Sale and more.

Follow us, share us, and send us some of those wonderful (hearts).
