Garbage Fees
Commercial: $70 per ton (1 ton = 2,000 pounds) with a $20 minimum
Residential: $70 per ton (1 ton = 2,000 pounds) with a $20 minimum
- $3.00 per bag for up to six bags with our ACC Landfill punch card. Punch cards, 6 bags for $18, can be purchased at the landfill scale house.
- Over six bags will be charged at a rate of $70 per ton rate starting with a $20 minimum
- The Athens-Clarke County Landfill accepts Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) from Athens-Clarke County & Oglethorpe County ONLY. What is Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)?
- We define MSW as furniture, kitchen waste, etc. Basically, most things from within a home that are not Construction and Demolition (C&D) Material/Remodeling Debris. Please see immediately below for the list of C&D Material/Remodeling Debris.
Construction and Demolition Material & Remodeling Debris is not MSW. What is C&D Material?
- We define C&D Materiel and Remodeling Debris as: cabinetry, carpet, carpet padding and tack strips, concrete, doors and door jambs, flooring, hot tubs, lumber (decking, fencing, etc.), old picnic tables & saw horses made from lumber, pallets, plywood, sheetrock, shingles, shower stalls, siding, tile, toilets, wooden children's play/swing sets, wood scraps, etc. Basically, anything you uninstall from a home and/or remodel, or any structure you demolish, for example, a wooden dog house or shed. These materials are accepted at the Oglethorpe County C&D Landfill and/or the Walton County C&D Landfill.

Please note as there has been a recent change regarding Athens-Clarke County residents and disposal of C&D material.
- Athens-Clarke county residents may dispose of small, household project and/or remodeling C&D material at the Oglethorpe County C&D Landfill. This is intended for residents ONLY, not contractors. Athens-Clarke County residents must show proof of address to use the Oglethorpe County C&D Landfill. Leaf & Limb Fees
- Leaf & Limb Fees - Commercial: $25.50 per ton with a $5 minimum
- Leaf & Limb Fees - Residential: $25.50 per ton with a $5 minimum
Other Disposal or Recycling Services:
- Animal Carcasses (Cat, Deer, Dog): $20 minimum (Larger carcasses, call first)
- Car batteries: No charge (Batteries ARE NOT trash. They do NOT go in the trash.)
- Mattresses & Box springs: $10 per item
- Metal: Free (This includes old appliances, microwaves, treadmills, etc.)
- Paint: $2.00 per can/$10.00 per 5-gallon bucket
- Propane tanks: $5 per tank
- Tires: $3 per standard passenger/light truck tire, $10 per commercial truck tire
- Tires cannot be on the rim. If a tire is on the rim the fee is $10.00 per tire.

Certain items are banned from landfills. Contact the Athens-Clarke County Landfill for a complete list of all prohibited items at (706) 613-3508. Please note: The landfill manager conducts random inspections of all loads entering the landfill and is authorized to inspect any suspicious loads.
