The following are PROHIBITED ITEMS and not accepted for disposal IN the Athens-Clarke County Landfill:
- Septic tank sludge and scum
- Live animals and fowl
- Automobiles and objects of similar size
- Burning/smoldering materials or ashes
- Leaf & limb material mixed w/ solid waste materials and/or construction and demolition debris
- Lead acid batteries
- Tires
- Paint
- Liquids
- Any containers designed to hold liquids; unless lids are removed, fifty-five (55) gallon drums are prohibited
- Oils/Grease
- Coal Ash
- Any other material prohibited by the state of Georgia, Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division (EPD)
- Construction & Demolition (C&D) Material. Please see explanation below:
Construction & Demolition (C&D) Material. C&D Materials include: cabinetry, carpet, carpet padding and tack strips, concrete, doors and door jambs, flooring, hot tubs, lumber (decking, fencing, etc.), old picnic tables & saw horses made from lumber, pallets, plywood, sheetrock, shingles, shower stalls, siding, tile, toilets, wooden children's play/swing sets, wood scraps, etc. Basically, anything you uninstall from a home and/or remodel, or any structure you demolish, for example, a wooden dog house or shed. These materials are accepted at the Oglethorpe County C&D Landfill and/or the Walton County C&D Landfill.
