2009 State & National Awards

KACCB 2009 National & State Award Recipient

On November 5, and then again on December 3, Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful (KACCB) was recognized locally and nationally for its innovative approach to litter prevention. The “Seriously....Y’all still litter? Time to Change Your Ways” litter prevention campaign was awarded a first-place state award by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs / Keep Georgia Beautiful Program and a third-place national award by Keep America Beautiful.

KACCB also received the Keep America Beautiful President’s Circle Award, which recognizes exemplary performances made by certified affiliates to reduce litter, minimize waste, and beautify and improve their local communities. As a special honor, the KACCB staff was asked to create flower ornaments out of cans to decorate the National Keep America Beautiful Christmas tree in Washington D.C. The tree was auctioned off with all proceeds going to the District of Columbia Special Olympics.
