Consumer Healthy Solutions Plans with Health Savings Account
The CHS plans provide you with a health plan option that offers a lower premium in exchange for a greater portion of the initial cost-share from you, with an opportunity to open a Health Savings Account (HSA) that you can use to save for and spend on future health care costs. ACCUG offers two Consumer Healthy Solutions Plans:
Participants in a CHS plan MUST open a Health Savings Account through Benefit Wallet/BNY Mellon Bank.
A Health Savings Account is a tax-advantaged medical savings account available to individuals participating in a high deductible health plan (CHS plan). The funds contributed to the account are not subject to federal income tax at the time of deposit and even earn interest! HSA funds can be used to pay for your annual deductible and any other qualified medical expenses* not covered by the health insurance plan. HSA contributions are made on a pre-tax basis, and withdrawals for qualified medical expenses are not taxed. Funds in the HSA also roll over and accumulate from year to year if not spent and can be used for future health care expenses. The HSA account is owned by the participant. Once enrolled, you will receive a debit card that may be used for convenient payment of your qualified health care expenses and have the option to receive a checkbook.
