Health Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

The Health Flexible Spending Account (FSA) benefit is a great way to reduce your taxable income by diverting pre-tax money into a medical spending account.  A pre-loaded debit card makes it even easier to pay for your eligible health-related, out-of-pocket expenses. The FSA is a pre-tax deduction, which can be used to pay for eligible, out-of-pocket health care expenses.  The purpose of the FSA is to cover most out-of-pocket expenses not covered under your medical, dental, or vision plan.  Eligible expenses, such as dental, medical, vision, prescriptions, and over-the-counter medications, must be incurred between the calendar plan year in order to be considered a qualified FSA expense.

Annual Contribution Limits:

  • Maximum Contribution: $2,850 annually
  • Minimum Contribution: $ 260 annually

Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (Dep Care FSA)

This Dep Care FSA benefit lets you use pre-tax dollars for eligible employment-related dependent care expenses (child care/elder care). It sets money aside from your paycheck before taxes are taken out. You can then use these funds to reimburse yourself for eligible dependent care expenses throughout the plan year. Setting aside pre-tax dollars means paying fewer taxes and increasing your take-home pay.

Annual Contribution Limits:

  • Maximum Contribution: $5,000 annually

Health Savings Account (HSA)

A Health Savings Account is a tax-advantaged medical savings account available to individuals participating in a high deductible health plan (CHS plan). The funds contributed to the account are not subject to federal income tax at the time of deposit and even earn interest! HSA funds can be used to pay for your annual deductible and any other qualified medical expenses not covered by the health insurance plan. HSA contributions are made on a pre-tax basis, and withdrawals for qualified medical expenses are not taxed. Funds in the HSA also roll over and accumulate from year to year if not spent, and can be used for future health care expenses. The HSA account is owned by the participant. Once enrolled, you will receive a debit card that may be used for convenient payment of your qualified health care expenses.

Annual Contribution Limits:

  • Individual Maximum Contribution: $3,850 annually
  • Family Maximum Contribution: $7,750 annually
