H.T. Edwards Learning Center Sidewalk Project

The H.T. Edwards Learning Center hosts a wide range of school programs and related activities.  These programs often involve students traveling from Clarke Central High School and the West Broad Street School campus. Most of these streets within the neighborhood bounded by Rocksprings St., Baxter St., Magnolia St., and West Broad St. did not have sidewalks, making walking between these locations challenging for pedestrians.

This project includes the construction of 1,140 feet of sidewalk along the east side of W. Hancock Avenue and 900 feet of sidewalk along the south side of Hills Chapel Street, along with retaining walls, accessibility ramps, crosswalks, and minor drainage improvements.

The funding source for this project is SPLOST, Safe Routes to School.

Final completion of the project was in May 2018.
