Quarterly Tap Water Analysis

Athens relies on three surface water sources, the North and Middle Oconee Rivers and the Bear Creek Reservoir. We collect and analyze samples from each source at our Water Resources Center for different features, including taste and odor, color, micro-organisms, and chemical content.  After the water goes through the treatment process, we again test for quality assurance.

The quarterly tap water analysis contains test results from our finished water before it enters the distribution system.  The Athens-Clarke County Public Utilities Department shares the test results to keep customers informed about their drinking water quality throughout the year.  The report includes results for thirty standard tests, including total dissolved solids (TDS), nitrogen ammonia, and manganese.  For additional questions, contact our Water Resources Center at 706-613-3481.
