Description: This project consists of the replacement of the bridge carrying County Route 479/Belmont Road over Shoal Creek, 6.7 miles south of Winterville in Clarke County. The existing bridge was constructed in 1968 and consists of 3 spans of steel beams on concrete caps with steel piles that have concrete encasements.
Project Goals & Objectives: The new bridge will be replaced on the existing alignment and will require a 3.1 mile offsite detour for approximately 9-12 months during construction.
Funding Source: Capital Project Funds will be used for 1/2 of the Right of Way Acquisition. GDOT will pay the remaining 1/2 and the cost of construction.
