How to Transfer Service

transfer address

From One Address to Another

To transfer water service, you must:

  • Already have water service with an account in your name
  • Have a good payment history*
  • Be relocating to a location within Athens-Clarke County

The current water bill balance must be paid in full before the transfer request can be completed.

Please notify the Water Business Office within one working day of when you would like the new service to start.

From One Roommate to Another

The account holder who is moving must contact the Water Business Office (WBO) and provide a date on which they will no longer be responsible for the bill

If the moving roommate fails to alert the WBO, they remain on the account and maintain responsibility for any charges, even if they have moved and are no longer using the service.

To avoid service disruption, the roommate assuming responsibility for the water account must initiate a new service to start on the same date as the roommate who is moving.
