Project 22: Youth & Community Enrichment Facility Partnership

Youth & Community Enrichment Facility Candidate Sites
The Youth and Community Enrichment Facility project is now in Stage II of the site selection process. In Stage I, the appointed Site Selection Committee identified a target geographical area along with specific criteria and standards for the selection of an appropriate site. The proposed target area and site criteria and standards were submitted for public input through a public forum held at Rocksprings Park Community Center in May 2022 as well as an online survey.
All parcels within the identified target area were then evaluated using the established criteria. Ten parcels and parcel groups were found by the Site Selection Committee to be the highest scoring and most viable sites for consideration.
Public Comment Results Now Available
The public reviewed and commented on the ten parcels that were selected by the Site Selection Committee for consideration. Public comments are available on the Youth Facility Comments dashboard.
The Youth and Community Enrichment Facility Partnership will provide a new facility in partnership with one or more organizations for youth development and family educational programs in Athens-Clarke County. It is expected that the partner(s) will provide capital funds to the project to support SPLOST funding. The project is envisioned to include components such as a computer lab and technology center, classrooms and conference space, game room, teen center, half gymnasium, associated administrative and operational areas, and an exterior stage area and sports field.
