Recycling
Athens-Clarke County became Georgia's first municipally operated curbside recycling program when it began in 1988. All private carriers are also required to offer recycling services. Free recycling drop-off centers are located throughout Athens-Clarke County. The Recycling Division also operates the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM) and the Teacher Reuse Store.
