Call for Artists: Visions of MLK Exhibit

Call for Artists: “Visions of MLK Art Exhibition”

Submission Deadline: Saturday, January 9, 2016, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Deliver to Lyndon House Arts Center, 293 Hoyt Street, Athens GA 30601.

The Lyndon House Arts Center invites artists and writers to design original, collaborative works for our annual “Visions of MLK Art Exhibition.” This year’s theme, “Plant a Positive Seed” is curated by Montu Miller. The exhibition will feature poetry and art: combining poetic words and visual works to interpret powerful ideas and emotions. The “Visions of MLK Sunday Celebration & Art Exhibition” is entering its 9th year as a supporting event associated with the community initiative “Make It A Day On, Not A Day Off Day of Service”.

All submitted works must come from a collaborative team. The collaborative team can incorporate artists/ writers/ poets/illustrators/ graphic designers and more. The collaborative works of art can use any medium. The Arts Center can offer assistance in pairing creative teams if needed. All mediums and all sizes accepted. All works must be ready to hang. Frames are encouraged but not required.

This year’s theme, “Plant Positive Seeds,” focuses on building bridges between local communities through collaboration. Imagine we are all gardeners in an Athens community garden, planting a positive seed to grow something special. Plant a positive thought in a child, plant a tutoring lesson with a student or help plant some vegetables for a family to eat.
