The Lounge Gallery: Jim Wilson

LOUNGE GALLERY: “Resonating Destinations,” Works by Jim Wilson

December 9, 2017 – March 3, 2018

The Lounge Gallery at the Lyndon House Arts Center, features quarterly solo exhibitions by emerging artists. Artists in the beginning stages or re- invigorating their careers exhibit wall-bound works in mediums alternating from drawing to painting to photography to printmaking.

This winter, the Lounge Gallery will feature mixed media works by Jim Wilson in an exhibition entitled “Resonating Destinations.” This exhibit is an exploration of vibrations relative to sound, travel and environmental experiences. Wilson reminisces, “Growing up in Southern California as a kid, a road trip always meant that the first state to cross into was Arizona. Unless we were going to Las Vegas, but that’s not a road trip, that’s a Las Vegas trip. Arizona, California, New Mexico and Southwest Texas are embedded in my mind as the essence of travel. Colors changing back and forth whether on rocks, forests, mountains, or the Grand Canyon itself, the vast southwestern United States is my happy place.”

Jim Wilson lives in Athens, makes art and performs regularly with several musical groups ranging in a wide variety of sound. Travelling and passionately experiencing life are evident in both Wilson’s music and his visual art. He studied Studio Art at the University of North Georgia and has shown previous works at KA Artist Shop, Flicker Bar, the UNG Oconee Campus Gallery, Trio Contemporary Art Gallery and Lowery Gallery.

Lyndon House Arts Center is located at 211 Hoyt Street in Downtown Athens.
