CONNECT: CCSD Biennial Student Art Exhibit
Please join us for the opening reception on Saturday, November 11, 2 - 4pm. We are delighted that the Clarke Central High School Honors Chamber Strings, under the direction of Dr. Eunice Kang, will perform during the opening reception. They will play for a minimum of 45 minutes beginning at 2pm.
The biennial exhibition of artworks by the students of the Clarke County School District is a favorite among all of our citizens. With an amazing team of public school art teachers, every other year, Lyndon House Arts Center hosts hundreds of artworks created by our future generation. Each artist, in grades Pre-K through 12 use their experience and creativity to investigate a theme through painting, fiber, printmaking, sculpture and more. The planning for this exhibit begins before school is in session, with a gathering of the teachers and Arts Center staff to discuss relevant topics, conversations and lessons for the coming school year as well as the desire and need for art to be integrated as a vital part of a child’s education.
The title of this 2017 biennial student show is “CONNECT”. This theme was selected, as art is a wonderful way to discuss the needs of our time, to describe who we are, and to reach out to our neighbor, our city and beyond.
About the music for our reception on November 11:
The students in Clarke Central HS Honors Chamber Strings are some of CCSD's most passionate, dedicated string players. Our mission is to serve the school and local community through performance of high quality music for special events and celebrations. Recent performances include: Foundation for Excellence Awards Ceremony, West Broad Market's Juneteenth celebration, UGA College of Engineering Spring Convocation.
Students: Aneesa Conine-Nakano, Tee White, Bailey Veeder, Aliyah Arnold, Jamia Echols, Edmund Davis, Maya Cornish, Jordan Rhym, Ietta Veeder, Bria Echols
In addition, a wonderful publication accompanies this exhibit. The photography, design and printing was supported by a number of citizens and businesses in the Athens area. This catalog is available to each child in the show and as numbers last, these will be available for purchase.
