Thank you Athens Area Artists!  What a wonderful turn out for the 44th Juried Exhibition entry days!

This year’s show was selected by guest juror Ms. Lauren Haynes, the Curator of Contemporary Art at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Ms. Haynes visited Athens and the Lyndon House for two days in January to review Athens area artist submissions.  In those two days, 309 artists entered 767 works of art.  Ms. Haynes quelled through the multitude of works with great sensitivity and scrutiny, always remarking with great admiration, on the outstanding quality of the work whether from experienced professionals or those just starting to experiment with the visual arts.  She has given us a concise group show of 160 works representing 130 local artists. 

In celebration of the 44th, every Thursday in the month of April, the Lyndon House will present gallery talks with Juried Exhibition artists.  These will take place from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. On April 4, Didi Dunphy will lead a conversation with Megan Sparks, Paula Runyon, Margaret Morrison and Kim Truesdale.  On April 11, Beth Sale will talk with Leah McKellop and Cody Matthews. On April 18, artists Kate Windley and Eli Saragoussi will be lead by Amanda Burk. On April 25, artists speaking will be Sharon Franco, Gerald Alderman, Laura Coston-Anrud and Amy Rosemond.

The exhibition continues through May 3.  All exhibitions are free and open to the public during regular gallery hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 9 PM, and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9 AM to 5 PM.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.
