Upstream Part II continues the series of exhibits focused on African American artists’ experiences, with a group exhibition of work by William Downs, Jerushia Graham, Njambi Mwaura, Broderick Flanigan and Meaza Nigatu. These artists use a variety of media, including drawing and painting, paper cuts, installation, and relief sculpture, to express their views. Utilizing imagery of pattern, shadows and the figure, these artists add to the important conversation of cultural identity in our times.
